Money Problems and My New Toy

By admin | July 8, 2009

I’ve always wanted a scooter. I used to go to the park and see kids bigger than me do tricks with theirs, and I wanted one too. My parents wouldn’t buy me one and started explaining to me the value of money and how I needed to work for the money required to buy a scooter.

I told them I would do whatever it takes to raise the required amount, and I started doing different chores for them, and even for some of our neighbors. Even though it was tiring, I kept at it until I had enough money to buy one. My only problem was that it wasn’t enough to but the model I actually wanted.

Even if it wasn’t the one I longed for, I was very proud of it, so I called all my friends to come and see it. They weren’t quite interested at first, but after a few days they came to try it on. They started with a short ride in the backyard, and in no time at all they fell for it, and wanted to have their own scooter, so that they wouldn’t have to share, and fight for mine.

That was just the start. They came to me for advice, and even when they needed some small fixes to their scooters. In no time I had the money for my dream scooter: the Fuzion Asphalt Ultimate Carving Scooter, the best scooter ever made. That was exactly what I needed for trying those tricks I used to envy the older kids for. My scooter became the star of the neighborhood kids, and I was really proud of it. Nobody had a scooter like mine, or could do the thing I could do with it.

Now I am one of those kids doing stunts in the park, and all my friends look up to me. I’m happy that I’ve made my dream come true, and I know that I really deserved it. My parents are also proud of me. They say that now I have made the first step towards being a responsible grown-up.
